Hedwig C. “Hedy” (Marszalek) Stepien, 98, of East Hartford, beloved wife for 70 years of the late Stanley J. Stepien, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022.

Born in Worcester, MA on September 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Theodora (Tutas) Marszalek. Hedy worked as an inspector for Heublein in Hartford for 22 years. She enjoyed tending to her beautiful flower garden, but was happiest when she was able to spend time with her family.

Hedy will be forever missed by her two children, Stanley J. Stepien, Jr. and companion June Mason of Enfield and Irene Cook and husband Gary of Higganum; 6 adored grandchildren, 12 cherished great-grandchildren and 3 precious great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a dear friend, Simone St. Onge. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Theodora A. Grzesiak; her loving grandson, Ricky Grzesiak; five brothers and three sisters. Hedy’s family would like to thank the entire staff at By The River Assisted Living in Marlborough for the care and compassion toward Hedy and her entire family over the last three years.

Funeral services and burial will be private. The D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the arrangements.
