The town is in the process of adopting its annual budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025. Marissa Baum, Head of Communications for the Office of the Mayor, issued a press release Tuesday stating that the town welcomes feedback from residents and taxpayers.
“To better understand how the town plans its spending every year and how residents can get involved, we have broken down the key steps to the budget planning process below. This year, all budget workshops will be presented in a hybrid model.”
Baum noted residents can participate in the budget process by attending the department budget workshops in the auditorium of the East Hartford Community Cultural Center, 50 Chapman Place. (The printed schedule in the Gazette’s Thursday edition was incorrect – it was last year’s workshop schedule, taken from the town website link in Tuesday’s press release. See the schedule at the end of this story.)
This year there will be “call-in options” for each departmental budget workshop.
“Access details are listed on the public meeting calendar on the Town Council webpage,” she stated.
“In line with the mayor’s vision to maintain transparency and make the budget document more accessible to the public, this year’s budget book will presented in a new, interactive digital format available on the East Hartford Finance Department webpage.
