Aline Boutot Smith, age 97, formerly of Godar Terrace, passed away peacefully June 13, 2024.
Aline was born on June 23, 1926 in Fort Kent, Maine, the youngest of 18 children born to Annie Albert Boutot and Willie Boutot. She was affectionately known as “Babe” or “Aunt Babe” by family and friends. She worked for many years for the State of CT Dept. of Developmental Services, and then as the bookkeeper for Stage West/Agora Ballroom in West Hartford for the owner, her nephew, Ray Nadeau.
Aline moved from Maine to Hartford when she was 20 years old to join several of her siblings. She met her husband, Richard H. Smith, who lived in the apartment next door to one of her sisters. The day she passed would have been his 99th birthday. They lived in Hartford for 17 years before moving to East Hartford in 1963 where she lived until 2010. She moved to Orange, CA to join her two sons until 2022 when she returned to CT to reside with her youngest daughter and family in Wolcott, CT.
She is survived by her four children: Karen Kita (husband, Jeff); Michael Smith (wife, Erin); Kathy Calo (Rick Moylan); Todd Smith (wife, Michele); seven beloved grandchildren including Samantha Smith Perez (husband, Anthony); Taylor Smith (husband, Sina Soltani); Michael Calo; Rachele Calo Parafati (husband, Christian Parafati); Nicole Ross (Ryan Krijakin); Cailey Smith; and Jordan Smith; three great grandchildren, Aliyah Ross Krijakin; Liam Smith Perez; and Joelle Calo Parafati; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She cherished her time spent with nieces Doreen Sekora and Helene Pulnik; former daughter-in-law, Ronda Smith; extended family members Sue and Bruce Stannard; dear friends Dot and Sharon Green, and Sue Record, who all maintained very special relationships with her through the years. She is predeceased by all her siblings and a much loved grandchild, Daniel Ross.
Her favorite thing was to be constantly surrounded by family and friends (the more the merrier), listening to music and enjoying a glass of chardonnay.
A funeral mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 10th at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception located at 74 W. Main Street in Waterbury followed by a memorial gathering.
