Ron Wilson

Ronnie and Susan shared a life built on love, mutual support, and unwavering devotion to one another. While they did not have children of their own, their love for their extended family was remarkable, and they created lasting memories with each one.

Ronnie is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Deacon William and Denise Bartlett; his nieces and their spouses, Jennifer and Ian Witschy, and Kimberly and Sean Fournier; his nephew, William Bartlett, Jr., and his wife Corie; as well as his great-nieces and nephews: Liam, Aidan, and Maura Witschy, Reid and Connor Fournier, and Mairead and William Bartlett.

Ron was a surveyor at Millstone Nuclear Plant before serving in the East Hartford Public School system. His last assignment was Head Custodian at Gov. William Pitkin Elementary School. He enjoyed his ‘long commute’ through his back yard to work each day, which enabled him to keep a watchful eye on the facility. He loved his job; particularly seeing his school family each day as well as those in his department. Ron was a proud member of the East Hartford Lions Club giving back to others in his unassuming way. He also was very active in the East Hartford Democratic Town Committee for years, and could be found putting up lawn signs all around town for his party.

A man of deep Catholic faith, which provided strength and comfort throughout his life, he drew peace from it during his many challenges. Ron put faith into practice. He always found special ways to connect with people, especially nieces and nephews to whom he provided many lifelong memories and adventures. He was most generous and will be remembered for his subtle humor. Ron had a special way of making you feel important as he would immediately light up with a gigantic smile and an enthusiastic thumbs up.

Ronnie was an adventurer at heart, enjoying travels with Susan and later with friends, capturing moments through photography. He shared his photos with the public earning many awards. He loved playing the bongos, often delighting family and friends with his rhythm and enthusiasm. He also appreciated life’s simple joys like walks on the beach combing for seashells, camping near a river enjoying the quiet, watching birds and fishing or simply spending quality time with his loved ones as well as their pets. As an animal lover, he easily won them over as he naturally shared his affection.

Ronnie was an accomplished puppeteer, with a niche for making his puppets come to life. At many a gathering, his nieces and nephew were spellbound by Uncle Ron’s puppets.

Above all, Ron treasured the time he shared with Susan and carried her memory with him every day. Ronnie will be remembered for his dedication and love to his family and friends, and his kind and humble spirit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christopher Church 538 Brewer St. East Hartford, CT 06118 on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church.
