The East Hartford Rotary started a virtual raffle this February as a way to raise funds for the club’s many local, regional and international projects.
The Grand Prize is $5,000 with prizes of $1,000 and $500 as well. The final day for buying a ticket is May 30 with the drawing taking place on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Tickets are $1 apiece but you must purchase a minimum of 10 tickets. To buy a ticket go to https://ehrc.rotary7890gives.org/ehrc2021
Normally the task of selling raffle tickets is up to the club members, one-on-one. However the COVID-19 pandemic has ruled that out. Last year was a difficult one as all the normal Rotary fundraisers were canceled, but the club continues to give its support to many, providing scholarships, support for the food bank, donations to Foodshare and supporting several of its long-standing international Rotary causes such as Polio Plus and helping to bring water and sanitation to remote villages in places such as Guatemala. In the past the Rotary also donated to support the new East Hartford Senior Center, the East Hartford Public Library’s bookmobile, the EMS and paramedic programs of the East Hartford Fire Dept., the stage and audio equipment for the bandstand on the Town Green and helped equip the East Hartford Police Dept.

Each year the East Hartford Rotary Club donates $50,000 – $60,000 to various charities, such as :
Koats for Kids – Providing winter coats for needy children;
Food Banks – Local food banks to feed the homeless and others in need;
Scholarships – Each year Rotary donates several $2,000 scholarships to worthy students, on average providing 6 scholarships each year;
Local Sports Teams – Funds for local youth sports to purchase equipment.
The club also donates to international charities, such as:
Shelterbox USA – Provides emergency shelter and tools to families displaced by conflicts and natural disasters;
End Polio Now – Rotary International’s effort to eradicate polio
Clean Water and Sanitation Efforts.
