Goodwin University will hold its 2021 commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
Goodwin follows the University of Connecticut’s lead in conducting its graduation exercises in the stadium rather than on campus. At the UConn graduations held May 8 participants were also able to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine in a special drive-through lane set aside for the graduates on the former airfield runway south of the stadium.
Dr. Danielle Wilken, Goodwin University university’s provost, will serve as master of ceremonies. Over 400 are expected to formally receive their degrees, including members of Goodwin’s Class of 2020 when the ceremony was canceled.
Goodwin University’s campus remains mostly closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Those attending the stadium ceremony will be required to present proof of completed vaccines, or a negative COVID-19 test within the previous 72 hours of the ceremony.
Effective July 6, 2021, fully vaccinated people can return to the Goodwin University’s Riverfront campus in East Hartford, the school website posted.
